How the New York Giants beat the Philadelphia Eagles to win Super Bowl LI

When the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl in 2014, the Saints’ offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, went to the podium to give a speech.
“Now I’m going to say, ‘Welcome to the new New Orleans,’ ” he said.
“And I will be the first to tell you, the new Orleans is going to be different than the old.
We’re going to have a new identity.
We are going to play like a new team.
We will be a lot more physical.”
That was the start of what would become a run of success, which would extend into the first few years of the New Year.
And the team’s quarterback, Drew Brees, is now one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
New Orleans’ offensive line, with Drew Brees as its leader, has been among the best in the NFL.
And quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who spent time in a full-time center role last season, is a dynamic playmaker.
But the Saints defense also is on fire, as well.
The unit led the NFL with 28 sacks, including seven by cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who recorded his 100th career interception on Jan. 20.
The Saints ranked fourth in total defense, allowing just 12.6 points per game, according to Football Outsiders.
New England has the NFL’s sixth-best scoring defense.
The Patriots rank third in passing yards per game (6.5), second in rushing yards per contest (223.4), and third in points per contest, which is tied for first.
It’s a strong defense that has allowed just 10.0 points per play this season.
New York is coming off a 34-27 loss at the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XLIX.
The win helped seal New Orleans’s place in the AFC Championship Series against Pittsburgh.
The team finished the season ranked third in scoring offense, and led the league with 31 points per outing.
The last time New Orleans faced Pittsburgh in the Super, it lost 45-28.
The Panthers, who beat New Orleans in the 2016 NFC Championship Game, are 0-2 this season, including a season-opening loss at home to the Falcons.
The Falcons, who defeated New Orleans a year ago, finished last in scoring defense and scored just 38 points per drive.
The defense is coming together.
The New Orleans defense has allowed 16.5 points per possession, which ranks eighth in the entire league.
It is fourth in yards per play allowed (5.6), fifth in rushing defense (104.3), fifth against the run (23.3) and seventh in points allowed (26.2).
This unit is going places.
New coach Sean Payton has done a great job with the offensive line.
He has kept a balanced attack, and it has allowed only 12 sacks, tied for seventh in the NFC.
He’s also put together a line that includes All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith and tackle Cameron Erving.
Smith has been named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, while Erving has been the league’s leading run blocker for the third consecutive season.
“It’s about being aggressive, and getting after the quarterback, and playing hard every play,” Smith said.
New New Orleans, the Patriots, and the rest of the NFC are headed to the Superdome for the second Super Bowl since the Saints joined the league in 1993.
The matchup will be one of two head-to-head matchups this season between the Patriots and Saints.
Both teams are 2-1 against New Orleans.
The first Super Bowl game was played in New Orleans on Jan 25, 1996, when the Saints beat the Saints 38-27.
